Mind Over Matter

I’m not normally one for a rant, hopefully this will have a positive outcome outcome at the end. I am absolutely done with negative attitudes in the gym! People who beat themselves up mentally, so bad that they talk themselves out of results before they even start, things like “I can’t do that”, “that’s too hard” or “I’ll give it a go and see what happens”

5933229257_insert_post_top_positive_thinking_xlarge1When it comes to transforming your body you need to be confident or at least have the belief in yourself that you can actually effect change. It is hard to gain positive results with a negative mindset. We are programmed to achieve the results that manifest in our thoughts, we will actually put effort in consciously and subconsciously towards what we set our mind to. So you can see by telling yourself that you CANNOT do something you have already lost the battle, you will subconsciously hold back because the thought that you will fail has been planted and in reality is ultimately what you are working towards.

Too many people are too hard on themselves, whether this is from previous experiences that haven’t gone to plan, over the top expectations or just a lack of vision for self potential but it stops here! We need to realize the only thing that is holding us back is our negative mindset! Once we understand that and come to the conclusion that our potential is limitless we can start to take action towards meeting our potential. When we start to take action in a positive mindset we will start to get results, from results comes more confidence and belief in ourselves which in turn will raise our vision of our self potential starting the whole process over again. This is how by simply changing the way we look at things, altering how we view ourselves and manipulating the words we use can change the outcome of a workout, a week and even an entire program.

Say you jump in the car 5 minutes late, this is instantly going to put you in a negative state of mind and I can guarantee you will notice every single red light that holds you up, you will get stuck at a stop sign and every person on the road will cut you off or be driving too slow… We’ve all experienced that right? Now imagine that very same day you jump in the car 5 mins early, you feel good because everything is running ahead of schedule and you will feel positive. You won’t notice if you get caught at the lights and hey you will probably even let that idiot P-Plater merge in front of you with no hesitation… This is an easy example of how your state of mind can alter the outcome of a simple task, how things can easily multiply when you are in a negative space and a simple adjustment can make all the difference.

So let’s ditch the doubt and start believing in ourselves. Swap the “I can’t” for “I can”, “it’s too hard” for “I got this” and “let’s give it a try” to “lets crush it”. Apply a positive approach in everything you do, especially your body transformation. Forget the haters that try to bring you down!
